2015: We’ve Raised 23m Voters For Jonathan – Fulani Herdsmen

 Comments

Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore, a Fulani socio-cultural association yesterday claimed that 23 million registered voters belonging to the association have decided to support President Goodluck Jonathan.
This was stated by the national leadership of the association led by the chairman, Alhaji Abdullahi Bello Bodejo and secretary, Saleh Alhassan Kubah at a press conference in Abuja.
Bodejo, stated that their decision to support President Jonathan was because of his Agricultural Transformation Agenda.
He said, “Both the ethnic Fulanis and pastoralists have been able to mobilise more than 23 million voters for Jonathan. We have an efficient means of mobilising our people and I want to confirm that we have asked our people to register in all the places they live and they have done so. These are the votes we want to give to President Jonathan in the 2015 general election”.
He further listed the national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dr. Adamu Mu’azu; the private secretary to the president, Alhaji Umar Tukur; political adviser to the president, Prof. Ahmed Alkali and the minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Alhaji Balla Mohammed as among the prominent Fulani pastoralists serving in the Jonathan administration.
While distancing themselves from any involvement with the Boko Haram insurgency, they backed the truce reached between government and the sect.
The association X-rayed the effects of the ongoing insurgency by the Boko Haram group and the circle of conflicts between farmers and herdsmen and called on the government and all stakeholders to immediately bring an end to the violence in the country particularly the northern region.
Engr. Kubah further described the allegation of cattle rearers involvement in sectarian crises especially in Nasarawa and other states as unfortunate profiling which security reports have debunked.
“The crises you spoke about are multi-faceted and stems from the struggle for power in the states. Former IGP, Mohammed Abubakar instituted a high-powered committee comprising of DIGs to unravel the root causes of the crises and they had since submitted their report. The Fulani pastoralists were exonorated but unfortunately were caught up in the political crises.
“For instance, the Egon people, unleashed the Ombatse Cult against our people and others, but the JTF have been able to stem the crises. What we have remaining in Nasarawa state are cattle rustlers and miscreants masquerading as Fulani pastoralists. Our problem is that we are being victimised and targeted for unnecessary profiling and there are security reports which proves that our people are not into all these criminality”.
