Borno State Pilgrims Board has confirmed the death of three of its pilgrims performing this year’s Hajj in Saudi Arabia.
The state secretary of the Hajj Committee, Alhaji Adamu Timta, said one of the pilgrims died before being airlifted at the Aminu Kano International Airport, Kano, while the two others died in Saudi Arabia.
“The first pilgrim died in Kano before they were airlifted, the second person died in Madina while the third person died in Makkah,” Timta said.
He explained that one of the victims was from Biu local government while the others were from the Maiduguri Metropolitan Council in the state.
Timta said all the victims had been buried at the various places of their death.
The secretary also commended Borno State government for the provision of accommodation for the state pilgrims in Makkah.
According to him, the committee has taken proactive measures to see that each pilgrim was educated enough to perform the Hajj.
